Tamarin

A limited budget and a short lap of time were the two main constraints of this project. Tamarin, a local Vietnamese restaurant, was in need of change. How to intervene without necessarily constructing or demolishing anything? This architectural insertion is entirely made of press wood, an otherwise ordinary material that reminded us, with its intricately warm texture, of exotic jungle foliage. The form follows function as the geometric intricacies of this feature is a result of certain alignments, the desire to strengthen the core of the main dining area and the need to create a service passage to accommodate diners to the WC and the staff to its tables. A punctuation of new lighting fixture for a more dramatic light and a change of seating complete the transformation as some walls were being painted dark brown for unification with existing fabrics and carpeting. A simple and effective way to have a change of scenery without having to travel thousands of miles.
